BAD DEVL was formed by three partners to focus on the acquisition, entitlement, development, and management of commercial and residential real estate located in the Austin and Central Texas area. With over 35 years of combined experience in various aspects of real estate and construction, the team is well-positioned to capitalize on the increasing demand of this thriving market.
Jud is the Founder and Managing Principal of BAD DEVL. Jud guides BAD DEVL's vision and is actively involved in the firm's operations, lending his expertise in construction and contracting to manage the development process.
In addition to BAD DEVL, Jud is the owner of Building Abatement Demolition Company, Inc. (BAD Company), and has 25 years of experience in asbestos abatement, demolition, historical restoration, and construction. BAD Company was established in 2007 and is licensed in asbestos abatement, mold remediation, lead-based paint stabilization and removal, demolition services, and historical restoration. BAD Company has earned a stellar reputation for completing projects for multiple state and federally owned facilities, major universities and colleges, independent school districts, and privately owned commercial and residential developments.
As Vice President of Acquisitions and Development for BAD DEVL, Alex identifies and executes acquisition and development opportunities for the firm. His responsibilities include sourcing, underwriting, structuring, and obtaining financing for projects the company pursues.
Prior to BAD DEVL, Alex was an Associate at JLL's Hotels and Hospitality Group in Atlanta where he assisted in the disposition of more than 15,000 hotel rooms totaling over $1 billion. Notable transactions he was directly involved in include the Hyatt Place Charlotte Downtown for $40.85 million and the six-property Carolinas Marriott Select Service Portfolio for $85.25 million. His primary responsibilities included financial underwriting, valuations, preparation of offering materials, legal document review, and assisting in the due diligence process.
Alex graduated summa cum laude from Tarleton State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and was named the Outstanding Finance Graduate for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Kelsey serves as the Vice President of Operations for BAD DEVL. In this role, she manages the accounting, reporting, and day-to-day operations of the firm's properties. Kelsey also champions BAD DEVL's pre-development efforts, such as securing entitlements, and actively manages the consultants engaged for each project.
Before helping create BAD DEVL, Kelsey was a Property Manager for Retail Planning Corporation in Atlanta where she oversaw a 1.3 million-square-foot portfolio of primarily grocery-anchored shopping centers. During that time, she developed annual budgets, created monthly variance reports, oversaw capital improvement projects, maintained positive tenant relations, and managed the day-to-day operations for each property.
Kelsey graduated from Tarleton State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance in 2013.
